World of Warcraft’s Fatal Raids bug ‘isn’t a quick fix,’ says developer

According to Blizzard, a bug in World of Warcraft Fatal Raids that causes many abilities to malfunction and underperform in more difficult Shadowlands raids is unlikely to be fixed soon. The bug, which causes a wide range of different abilities to deal significantly less damage or healing in the MMORPG, is apparently a more complicated issue than initially thought.

Responding to some initial reports of abilities dealing significantly reduced damage in the Fated Castle Nathria raid, the Blizzard Community Manager Kaivax says“We are aware of and working on a bug causing certain player abilities to malfunction during Fatal Raids. So far, our investigation has revealed a complicated issue that we don’t believe we can fix quickly. They point out that the issue is considered a top priority by the team.

Wire players are reporting dramatic nerfs to their expected release. One Arcane Mage user says Touch of the Magi applies “about 10% of what I expected” in damage, while their Harmonic Echo skill does about an eighth of the expected damage. It seems likely that this level of power reduction is consistent, as one Mistweaver Monk reports that his Ancient Teachings ability from the monastery only heals for 25% of the damage dealt, instead of the expected 250%.

Some of the abilities currently listed by players as not working properly include:

  • Feral Druid’s Frenzyband
  • Keepsake of Guardian Druid’s Ursoc’s Fury
  • Beast Cleave of Beast Mastery Hunter
  • Fire Mage Mastery: Ignite
  • Arcane mage’s Touch of the Magi and Harmonic Echo
  • Monk’s Bone Dust Brew
  • Ancient Teachings of the Mistweaver Monk Monastery
  • Discipline Priest’s Atonement
  • Shadow Priest Psychic Link
  • Outlaw Thief’s Blade Flurry
  • Subtlety Rogue’s Shadow Blades
  • Fierce Spirit of the Enhancement Shaman

Fated Castle Nathria, which launched on August 2, is the first in a series of weekly rotations for all three Shadowlands raids. Sanctum of Domination and Sepulcher of the First Ones will alternate over the next few weeks, each taking turns as the toughest challenge with similar item level loot to obtain. Hopefully Blizzard is able to quickly find a fix for this issue, as it could render raids unplayable for the affected specs.

Meanwhile, the WoW Dragonflight alpha nerfs Shaman again after his latest buffs made the class too strong. We’ve got all the class tier sets for the first WoW Dragonflight raid, and also took a look at the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King Classic ahead of its release.
