We’re just a day away from the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie, and even though this week isn’t exactly “garnished” with a ton of new releases, there are still some solid indie titles to check out this holiday weekend.
Here are our picks for this week in indie games, November 21-27.
Alpine – The simulation game
If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the spirit of winter, Alpine – The Simulation Game – from developer HR Innoways – will be for you. A varied story campaign filled with missions will keep you busy, that is, when you don’t hit the slopes of the Alps skiing in third person. Alpine – The Simulation Game is now available on PC via Steam.
Crash The Core – November 25 (PC)
Fans of digital deck builders will want to be sure to check out Crash The Core from Honest Rogue Games this week. Set in a sci-fi setting, the roguelike deck builder tasks you with equipping gadgets, summoning allies, purchasing weapons and consumables, and collecting cards as you progress each turn, by collecting information about the secret location of a planet’s central system and a conspiracy that threatens the entire universe. A cooperative mode is also available to play locally with a second player. Crash The Core launches November 25 on PC via Steam.
Deeer Simulator: Your Average Everyday Deer Game – November 25 (PC, PS4, XB1, Switch)
Ready to suffocate yourself (in the best possible way) this holiday weekend? Look no further than DEEER Simulator: Your Average Everyday Deer Game, from developer Gibier Games. After a long stint in Early Access, the game finally launches this week, putting you in the hooves of a deer that can use its elongated neck as a grappling hook while also being able to use adjacent items to transform into a Megazord-like creature. . . It’s a silly looking game that deserves your attention (and your laughs). DEEEER Simulator: Your Average Everyday Deer Game launches November 25 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
Date Night Bowling – November 26 (PC, Switch)
Spend another vacation alone? Encourage yourself with the cozy pixel art styles of Date Night Bowling, from developer Serenity Forge. Play as one of ten characters as they search for love in the most likely place – a neon-lit bowling alley. Choose your character and find love as you play a surprisingly deep bowling game where you can choose the weight of your ball and the oil of your lane. You can even play locally with a second player! Date Night Bowling launches November 26 on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
A few other indie games to check out include a handful of Early Access and already released titles debuting on other platforms:
- Death Gate (Port) – Available November 23 on PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch
- FORZA POLPO! (Early Access) – Available November 24 on PC via Steam
- King Under the Mountain (Early Access) – Available November 24 on PC via Steam
- Deiland: Pocket Planet (Port) – Available November 25 for Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam
