With the coronavirus forcing millions of people to stay indoors – again – it’s worth reminding us of all the games that can help you stay fit while being isolated.

You don’t need the latest console or a beefy home PC to get in shape while playing – there are plenty of options for consoles of every generation. Here are some of our favorites.

Just Dance (Wii, Wii U, PS4, PS4, X360, XBO, Switch, PC, iOS, Android)

Just dance is one of the most accessible fitness titles out there and is available for almost all consoles, computers, and mobile devices. Just dance comes out every year, so there are a lot of different titles to choose from, with some of the early games selling cheap as chips.

If you’ve never played Just dance before, the concept is simple: you just danced. In-game icons perform movements that you replicate, from the simple number of toe kicks to frantic kicking. At the end of each dance, you will have had a good heart workout.

Just dance is great fun and a solid alternative to the gym.

Beat the saber presents a concept similar to Just dance in that you will be using pop beats to increase your heart rate. In this VR exclusive title, players control two “lightsabers” (not to be confused with Star wars‘lightsabers) which they use to smash oncoming blocks that match the rhythm of the songs in the game.

The blocks fly up and down towards you, so you’ll need your wits (and good reaction time) to get through this frenetic game.

While Beat the saber More like a stationary game, it gives you a solid workout for your upper body especially your arms.

If you do not already have a copy of Ring shaped adventure, you might be out of luck here because the game is sold out almost everywhere. But if you’re one of the lucky few who already own the game, Ring shaped adventure is a fantastic training companion.

In fact, the game almost seems designed for situations like this. Ring shaped adventure is a comprehensive game about keeping fit where players take on a variety of practice-based levels. To defeat enemies, players must crouch, lunge, and fight their way to victory, with jogging being the primary mechanism of movement.

A level of Ring adjustment is sure to take your breath away, but the best part is that there’s an engaging little story surrounding your fitness adventure, and you’ll want to keep going for as long as possible physically.

Make sure you keep up with your pace – you don’t have to go as fast as these speedrunners. Because the levels are divided into smaller quests, you can choose the best workout for you.

Fitness boxing for Switch has flown largely under the radar, but it’s great for a workout and is more accessible than Ring adjustment. In this game, players engage in a kind of rhythm game where, rather than dancing, they are tasked with hitting blocks in rhythm.

It’s quick and difficult to master, but it definitely gets your blood flowing and should be great for your upper body strength.

Fitness boxing doesn’t have a lot of content, but if you’re looking to improve your arm strength and reaction times, this will definitely keep you on your toes.

It might be time to dust off your balance board, because the Wii fit games can be of great help during this difficult time. While the two Wii fit and Wii fit u are more about balance and relaxation than a long, intense workout, they will always keep you active and moving.

Even something as simple as working on your balance can relax you, while still getting back to your fitness goals.

Both games feature a variety of mini-games from low to high intensity, so you can work on any strength you want. If you don’t already own the console or the games, you can usually buy a Wii for under $ 50 and the game will set you back around $ 5 at your local game store. It is a simple solution to a delicate problem.

Arms is not strictly a “fitness” game, but you can still get a good workout when you fight a worthy opponent. The game uses similar mechanics to Fitness boxing in that you use the Switch controllers to “box” your opponents.

Arms takes place in a combat tournament where players are tasked with defeating a range of progressively stronger and big-armed enemies. You’ll have to dodge and wave to bypass enemy defenses and quickly strike into their blind spots.

It’s great to be active, and it’s a very underrated game to boot.

If you are isolating yourself from the coronavirus, don’t leave your house. But if you’re not sick and still stuck at home, there’s nothing wrong with taking a short stroll around your neighborhood to catch a naughty Pokemon or two.

Pokémon GoThe simple mechanics of s make walking fun and it’s a great way to keep your brain busy if you get bored easily with a simple exercise.

If you are going on an adventure in the next few weeks, be sure to heed the advice of your local council and health authorities. For now, take a walk with Pokémon Go is a great and rewarding way to stay active and healthy.

Want to play basketball, play table tennis, mini-golf or just hang out? You can do this by Recording room. Gaming is essentially a social space for people to create rooms by playing as they please. It started with table sports and basic gymnastics, but now includes a whole set of first and third person shooter missions, paintball, better tools for creating virtual environments, and more.

Recording room is free on all platforms, and a patch was added after launch so you can play it on a normal PC. However, it’s best in VR, and it’s also what will give you the most exercise.
