Skybound creates invincible video games

Skybound Entertainment will begin making video games based on the Invincible franchise as part of the long-running comic book’s 20th anniversary.

Skybound Entertainment has revealed plans to create video games based on the Invincible franchise. The announcement was made earlier this week and will be part of the franchise’s upcoming 20th anniversary next year. Skybound Entertainment, however, did not reveal any details about the upcoming Invincible Game.

Originally published from 2003 to 2018, Invincible was a comedy series written by The Walking Dead scribe, Robert Kirkman. Although popular among comic book fans, the series wasn’t particularly well-known among the general public until relatively recently. This was mainly thanks to the launch of an anime series of the same name, which released its first season on Amazon Prime in 2021. This adaptation of Invincible was hailed by some as the best superhero TV show of 2021, and a second season is currently in the works.

Since the release of the Amazon series, the Invincible The franchise exploded in popularity and many wondered what would be next for the property. Recently, however, Skybound Entertainment revealed what’s on their docket without giving too many details. As part of the comic’s 20th anniversary, the company revealed that a number of new projects are in the works for release in 2023. Among these projects, a Invincible video game. In the past, creator Robert Kirkman has teased that a Invincible the video game was in the works, but this is the first time that some sort of release/announcement window has been revealed. Skybound Entertainment has remained silent on all details regarding the game.

Since Invincible released on Amazon Prime, fans are clamoring for a game in the franchise or some kind of crossover with another. Some have suggested that Omni-Man should appear in the mortal combat series, with franchise co-creator Ed Boon endorsing the idea. Others still think the show should have its own mortal combatstyle fighting game, while others think it should go a different route.

Skybound Entertainment has, in the past, dipped its toes into the video game business through its Skybound Games division. This branch of the company has notably taken charge of the development of The Walking Dead: The Final Season after Telltale Games went bankrupt in 2018. Since then, the company has mainly focused on releasing remasters of older PC games like the Baldur’s Gate games and development The Walking Dead mobile games. How Skybound Games will approach a Invincible game, for now at least, remains to be seen.
