The enhanced PSP port of the first game in the Valkyrie Profile series, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, will arrive in September on current systems.
Earlier this year, Sony held a PlayStation State of Play event, where fans hoped to get a peek at games from various publishers, with Square Enix fans in particular on the lookout. One of the most surprising announcements was the reveal of a new game in the Valkyrie Profile series, the action RPG Valkyrie Elysee. With the return of this series, it seems more Valkyrie Profile the games will be coming to modern consoles, as evidenced by the reveal that the first game in the series will be coming to modern PlayStation systems.
The first one Valkyrie Profile The game was originally released for PlayStation in 1999, which was a commercial and critical success. This led to the game getting an enhanced port in 2006, which was released on the PlayStation Portable as Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth. It’s the only one Valkyrie Profile game that has had a re-release, with other entries only available on the systems they were originally released on. Fans looking to uncover its origins will be able to try out the enhanced port when it comes to PS4 and PS5 in September.
After the last trailer of Valkyrie Elysee revealed its release date, a Collector’s Edition was revealed for the game. This included the typical perks and freebies such as an art book, soundtrack disc, and acrylic standee. One thing to note that will come with this Collector’s Edition is a download code for Valkyrie Profile: Lennethwhich expires in 2024. This PSP port will also be sold separately on PS4 and PS5, on the same date as ElysiumSeptember 28, 2022.
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will retain all of the original content and gameplay from the PSP port, which has just been brought to HD. This release will also be global, as shown by PlayStation Store pages showing the same release date in all regions. Contrary to Valkyrie Elysee which will be released on PlayStation and PC, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will only be available on PS4 and PS5.
Although locked on console for the time being, this port shows that Square Enix is helping to develop the Valkyrie Profile more series. Maybe if both Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth and Valkyrie Elysee work well, fans can see ports of beloved older entries in the franchise such as Valkyrie 2 Profile: Silmeriathe prequel which builds on the first game and has been stuck on the PS2 since 2006.
Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth will be released on PS4 and PS5 on September 28, 2022.
