Pokémon Centers across Japan offer a special in-game Clefairy to customers who say “Pi pi pi…”

You must also wave your fingers to be eligible.

pokeemy centersstores that sell all kinds of PokeMon-themed items, from plush toys to clothing, can be found in many major cities across Japan and are great fun for any fan of the series. And now they’re getting a little better for a limited time.

From September 3 to September 11, all Pokémonemy Centers will offer free tickets redeemable for in-game content for pokeemy shining diamond, shiny pearl, Sword, Shieldand Legends: Arceus. It’s really easy to get too… sort of. Let’s take a look at the instruction video.

As you can see, to get a card with a redemption code, you must first enter a PokeMy Center. Then you need to find and greet a member of staff. Once you have their attention, you should then perform the metronome motion, which involves waving your two fingers from side to side like windshield wipers while saying “Pee pee pee…”

The video also explains that the correct technique for doing this is to first extend your arms and then bend your elbows upwards at 90 degree angles. In the beginning, wave the extended fingers from 11 o’clock to 1 o’clock. After that, you need to intensify your pee-pee-pee-ing by saying it louder and increasing the range of your fingers to 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock.

I don’t know if all of this is necessary, but prevention is probably better than cure. Otherwise, you would just look stupid.

At this point, you may be wondering “Why? Well, as any fast food menu will tell you, it’s moon viewing season in japan. And like any Pokemonemy fan will tell you, pokéemy most attuned to moon cycles is Clefairy, which in Japanese is called “Pippi.”

So, upon entering the code into your Switch, you’ll receive a “Moon-Viewing Clefairy” (Otsukimi Pippi) which has a moon-based moveset, such as shadow ball and moon breath. It’s a pretty beefy moveset to start with, and to get one all you have to do is swallow some Pride, head to a Pokemy Center, and start pi-pi-pi-ing your heart.

Based on online feedback, however, it might be too difficult for some fans in Japan.

“It’s too difficult lol.”
“I’m too embarrassed. I can not do it.
“Something for all the big kids out there.”
“They are very strict on technique.”
“It’s a good way to keep dealers away.”
“That kind of stuff looks fun.”
“It’s probably really cute when kids do it.”
“All I can think of is a really overweight grown man doing this.”
” I can not do it. I feel like I’m bothering the clerk.

I’m not so sure about that last concern. I can’t imagine a job that wouldn’t be improved by customers suddenly claiming to be Pokemy to change. Also, the campaign is only open for about a week, so there’s hardly any time for it to get old.

So why not head to a place near you and let your inner Clefairy shine during this year’s moon-viewing season?
