Japanese collector’s edition “The DioField Chronicle” developed by Square Enix unveiled; Board game and pins included

Square Enix Japan has unveiled the Collector’s Edition for their next tactical RPG, The DioField Chronicle. Our team Ryūji translated the main points of this upcoming package:

The Collector’s Edition of DioField Chronicle will officially open for pre-orders on July 7!

One of the inclusions of this collector’s box is the DioField Chronicle board game. With this, you will be able to enjoy the whole world and story of DioField Chronicle via a board game! (…How exactly is still unknown. This could be updated on the store description.)

Additionally, the Collector’s Edition also includes a set of pins with four different crest designs, including the mercenary Blue Fox, which will be included with the board game.

The purchase URL will be posted on the official Twitter account on the day of the start of pre-orders. It looks like the board game will be something exclusive to the Square Enix online store. They also hammer 数量限定 which means limited quantity.

It is currently unknown whether the West will receive this special edition. In fact, the West doesn’t have a confirmed release date for the game either, with the Japan launch date being September 2022. A Japanese demo is also coming next month.

We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the release of this new title.

The DioField Chronicle features a tactical RPG system with a diverse cast. Additionally, the developer shared that the soundtrack and story are an important focus in this new adventure, along with a real-time tactical combat system. This world mixes fantasy, medieval and modern facets with players witnessing the kingdom of Alletain, ruled by the Shaytham dynasty on the island of DioField, facing conflict for the first time in 200 years.

The reason for this rise in conflict lies mainly in the presence of the mineral Jade, which is used for the creation of magic and sorcery, and the island is home to plenty of it. The Alliance and the warring Empire in the nearby region are looking for Jade for obvious purposes. Players will control Blue Fox, a band of elite mercenaries.

This title is developed by Lancarse Ltd, a team of veteran strategy developers. Concept art is designed by Isamu Kamikokuryo, who provided artwork for Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy XIII. Additionally, the composers are Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell, best known for their work on game of thrones.

The DioField Chronicle will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in the West later this year.
