How long is Starfield? That’s the question anyone embarking on this space journey into the unknown will ask, because as we all know, there’s usually enough content in a Bethesda RPG to keep players busy years after release. We recently saw a ton of details about the most anticipated game of the year during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, but one thing that wasn’t obvious is how long you can expect to play Starfield. .
We’ve learned how Starfield Base construction will work and we know there will be over a thousand Starfield planets to explore, but what about how long the game will last? Fortunately, Todd Howard, executive producer at Bethesda, revealed some additional details in a interview with IGN this may answer the question posed: How long is Starfield?
Starfield Main Story Length
If you’ve played another Bethesda RPG game like Fallout 4 or Skyrim, you’ve probably got a good idea of how long Starfield is. Todd explained that the main story is about 30-40 hours long, which is about 20% longer than their previous games. Of course, most players don’t rush straight into the main story to reach the end, but it does give a good idea of Starfield’s minimum length.
Realistically, if you’re looking to complete a significant number of side quests and explore the huge galaxy on offer, you can expect that estimate to double or even triple. Todd went on to explain that the team at Bethesda Game Studios realizes that gamers stick with their games for years – Skyrim still has an active and lively player base after all – so Starfield will have plenty of additional content. Not to mention he claims that Starfield will be a “dream for our modding community”, which means there should also be a whole host of player-created content.
One aspect that will have you playing this space opera for a long time is all of the different factions in Starfield and exploring how they affect the story, as this game will no doubt have a myriad of different endings.
