Along with the significant user interface changes and the introduction of Material You, one of the coolest features of Android 12 is the inclusion of “game mode”. It is similar to the Xbox Dashboard on PC.
While manufacturers like Xiaomi, Realme, and OnePlus have already developed their version of game mode, everyone was excited to see what Android had to offer. That being said, the Game Dashboard on Android 12 offers access to various shortcuts and performance profiles.
While the game mode only supports limited titles at the moment, we are seeing that the developers are working on making their apps compatible. It is accessed by tapping a small icon that appears whenever you play a supported game.
Android 12 users can easily access some shortcuts like FPS monitor, screen recorder, screenshot, live streaming to YouTube, and Do Not Disturb toggle among other features.
But recent user reports suggest that even though they have disabled the toggle for Game Dashboard, the icon still appears. It’s really frustrating for those with big fingers or for users who don’t want to use the new feature.
I just received my Pixel 6 pro today and every time I play a game and touch near the bottom of the screen a little pop-up will appear to take me to the game dashboard. I’m not a big gamer and I don’t need to stream on YouTube or know my FPS when playing casual games. So I would like to find a way to prevent this from showing when I touch the bottom of my screen as it is more of a distraction when playing a game like clash royale and this pop-up appears exactly where I will do it. select a card.
Does anyone know how to change the in-game dashboard pop-up icon so that it doesn’t show? I don’t play 3D games and I don’t want them. But it keeps popping up and blocking the games I play. I have already disabled the in-game dashboard, which is why the side-swipe screen is disabled. But the little icon that appears at the bottom right keeps showing up and the only way to get rid of it is to point to it and close the screen.
Some say the icon appears right above a button in some games like Clash Royale which is really annoying to deal with because it doesn’t go away. Fortunately, a Reddit user shared a way to permanently disable the in-game dashboard on Android 12.
To turn off this incredibly annoying feature, go to the Settings app -> “Notifications” -> “Do Not Disturb” -> “Calendars” -> “Games” (gear icon) and turn off the toggle on the dashboard of the Game.
We hope Google fixes the issue where Android 12 users can’t turn off the in-game dashboard toggle. If and when they do, we’ll update this article to let you know, so make sure to keep an eye on.
