Google’s “Foldable Pixel” Rumored to Launch in Q4

San Francisco: Tech giant Google is reportedly preparing to start production of panels on the so-called “Foldable Pixel” in the third quarter of 2022 and may launch the device in the fourth quarter of this year.

Google is rumored to launch the foldable in late 2021 or early 2022, Android Central reports.

“While the tech giant once reportedly put its foldable Pixel plans on hold, it looks like things are back on track for a late 2022 launch,” the report said.

Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DCSS), recently tweeted that Google is set to start production of panels on the foldable Pixel in the third quarter of 2022, which could be anywhere between July and September.

Based on this, he expects the launch to take place in the fourth quarter, probably in October.

Although backer Jon Prosser maintained that the supposed device was never canceled to begin with, Young said Google canceled its initial order for the device.

He previously noted that Google was rethinking its approach to its foldable device because it didn’t believe it would be competitive enough to compete with Samsung’s best foldable phones, according to the report.
