Every Upcoming Marvel & DC Video Game (2023 and Beyond)

For those who have been waiting, the world is about to see something of a renaissance in superhero gaming. Gone are the days of gruesome licensed games pitting favorite heroes like Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, etc.

Now, after decades of waiting, it’s an exciting time for gaming to tackle these iconic comic book characters. While titles like Batman: Arkhan’s Asylum and Marvel’s Spiderman may have started the ball rolling, in the coming years, the production of quality superhero gaming experiences will increase.

So from Gotham Knights at Marvel’s Wolverine, here are all the announced DC and Marvel video games for fans to enjoy in the years to come.


Gotham Knights (2022)

The most imminent of the games on this list is that of WB Montreal Gotham Knights. After years of waiting for this new version of Gotham City, players are just getting a taste of this new Bat-Fam adventure.

Set in a world where Batman is (supposedly) dead, the rest of the Bat-Family (Red Hood, Bat-Girl, Nightwing, and Robin) must pick up the pieces left behind as an ancient menace known as the Court of Owls shows his face. This open-world adventure is a bit different from the Arkham fans of the series have come to know and love it, bringing RPG elements into the fray with cooperative play.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (2023)

In their first game since Batman: Arkham Knightby Rocksteady Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will hit store shelves in 2023. The Arkham the follow-up sees players take control of the Suicide Squad as they set out to defeat some of the most iconic heroes in DC history.

No specific date has been set for the title, but judging by the gameplay previews shown so far, the game looks pretty far along, so fans surely won’t be waiting long for Rocksteady’s next digital DC adventure. .

Wonder Woman (TBD)

Last on DC’s list of games is wonder woman. Developed by Monolith Productions (of Shadow of Mordor Fame), this super-powered action game will let players embody DC’s iconic Amazonian.

Not much is currently known about the title, and all that has been shown is a small Game Award 2021 trailer, but Warner Bros. described the project as a “open world single player action” experience that goes “Introducing an original story set in the DC Universe.”


Marvel’s Midnight Suns (2022)

Slated to hit store shelves on December 2 is Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Developed by strategy game virtuosos Firaxis Games (X-COM: Humanity Divided), midnight suns offers a unique take on the world of Marvel, focusing on the more supernatural elements of the comic universe and blending them with fan-favorite Marvel heroes.

The title will take the world of Marvel Comics and give it a strategic RPG coat of paint, allowing players to level up their hero and engage in strategic card-based battles against some of the biggest names in the Marvel canon.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (2023)

Coming in 2023, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has the high task of following critical darlings Marvel’s Spiderman and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. In what will be Insomniac Games’ third shot at the Spidey apple, players will see Peter Parker team up with Miles as the duo take on Kraven the Hunter and the villainous Venom.

No official release date has been locked in for the title, but the end of the game’s first and only trailer, so far, pointed to 2023 as Spiderman 2the year of release.

Marvel’s Wolverine (TBD)

And Spiderman 2 isn’t the only Marvel PlayStation-exclusive Insomniax working on. Revealed at the same event as Insomniac’s web-slinging follow-up, Marvel’s Wolverines will bring the iconic clawed mutant to PlayStation 5.

Informations about Wolverine has been thin so far, but if Insomniac’s work with Peter Parker/Spider-Man is any indication, fans have reason to be excited.

Marvel’s Iron Man (TBD)

The most recently unveiled Marvel Games project is Iron Man of Star Wars: Squadrons studio EA pattern. Once the Montreal-based team has completed its work on Dead Space Remaketheir next title will be a version of Marvel’s metal-clad Avenger.

Pattern Iron Man was tabbed like a “Third-person single-player action-adventure game” which will allow players to “Feel what it’s like to really play as Iron Man.” There is currently no release information on the title.

Amy Hennig’s Captain America/Black Panther Game (TBD)

Latest on the docket is Amy Hennig’s currently untitled Captain America/Black Panther game. After first revealing at this year’s D23 Marvel and Disney Games Showcase, this single-player action game will take players back in time as they’re treated to a World War II adventure alongside Captain America and Black Panther. .

The only real details fans have about the project right now are that it comes from Hennig’s team at Skydance New Media and will follow a different version of Black Panther that fans are used to, being Azzuri, the grandfather of T’challa. Other than that, players will take control of the two Marvel heroes along with two other characters in Howling Commandos member Gabe Jones and warrior Dora Milaje.

And that’s just the beginning

These are just the first steps towards a larger and more powerful digital world. Soon the comic book video game dam will break and fans will be playing all sorts of varied experiences across a number of Marvel and DC heroes.

And that list doesn’t even include some of the rumored projects as a potential open-world Black Panther game coming from EA.

It’s all going to happen so fast, and as is the case with these characters on the big screen, fantasy superhero video games will soon be the norm rather than the exception.
