Celtic call on three Japanese players to strengthen their squad

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is delighted to seal the signing of three new Japanese players.

The Parkhead club confirmed on Friday morning that striker Daizen Maeda, 24, will join Yokohama F. Marinos, initially on loan until the end of the season but with a mandatory buyout clause that will allow him to sign a contract at long term.

Additionally, midfielder Yosuke Ideguchi, 25, will arrive on a four-and-a-half-year contract from Gamba Osaka and all-rounder Reo Hatate, 24, will come from Kawasaki Frontale, also on a four and a half. half-year contract.

Postecoglou is well acquainted with the Japanese scene after his three years at the helm of Yokohama before taking over from Celtic last summer, and he is confident all three players can thrive in Glasgow.

He said on the club’s website: “We are really excited to bring these guys to Celtic and I think they are players that will get our fans excited.

“It is clear that I am well aware of their attributes and I think that by bringing the three to the club we bring even more quality, personality and energy to the team to work with the players who already have so well done for us this season.

“They’re all really at the peak of their careers, ambitious to be more successful and I’m sure at this particular time we’ll have their best years.

“I am delighted to have secured these players so early in the transfer window, I look forward to working with them and I, my team behind the scenes and the rest of the team will make sure we help them get through. move to Celtic as quickly as possible. “

Celtic expect their trio of new signings to be fully registered and available to join the squad in early January as they prepare to resume their Premiership campaign at home against Hibernian a fortnight after the winter break.

Hoops fans are hoping the new faces will have a similar impact to Postecoglou’s previous Japanese signing, with forward Kyogo Furuhashi being one of Scotland’s most notable players since joining Vissel Kobe this summer.

Celtic are currently six points behind city rivals Rangers at the top of the Premiership table with 18 games to go.
